The 49ers signed the first of their nine draft picks Wednesday, coming to terms with linebacker Jay Moore, a fourth-round selection from Nebraska. No money figures were available on the four-year deal.
Moore, who played defensive end last year for the Cornhuskers, impressed 49ers coaches with his quickness and athleticism at last month's mandatory minicamp. After watching the 273-pounder drop smoothly into coverage, head coach Mike Nolan wasn't sure whether Moore needed to shed any weight.

However, Moore said he might be comfortable playing about 10 pounds lighter. He was one of the players Nolan mentioned as performing well at minicamp. Nolan also said he's withholding judgment on all players until he sees them hitting each other with pads on in training camp.
Moore was chosen with the 104th pick in the draft. Last year's 104th choice, receiver Cory Rodgers, received a four-year, $2.075 million deal from the Packers, who then released the former TCU player in training camp. Rodgers subsequently briefly was with the 49ers' practice squad.
