Linebacker Patrick Willis has been nominated for the NFL Rookie of the Week. According to NFL stats, Willis recorded 11 tackles, nine of them solo, and forced a fumble in his first regular-season NFL game, helping the 49ers to a 20-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Willis joins fellow first-round picks WR Calvin Johnson (No. 2 overall by Detroit), RB Adrian Peterson (No. 7 overall by Minnesota), and RB Marshawn Lynch (No. 12 overall by Buffalo) as well as seventh-round pick WR John Broussard (Jaguars) as nominees for this week’s award. Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com beginning Tuesday at 9am EST and ending on Thursday at 5pm EST to determine the NFL Rookie of the Week. The winner will be announced Thursday evening on NFL.com. In addition, NFL fans may cast their votes for the NFL Rookie of the Week using phones with Sprint wireless service.
